Where do shiitake mushrooms grow? Where are the main production areas of shiitake mushrooms?

Shiitake mushrooms look like a small umbrella, consisting of two major parts: the cap and the stipe. The cap is fleshy and smooth, and is the main edible part. It is bun-shaped when young, and gradually flattens as it grows. The surface is light brown or tea brown, and the flesh is thick, white, smooth, and refreshing. The stipe is located in the middle or slightly below the cap, and is cylindrical or nearly cylindrical.

Where do mushrooms grow?

Shiitake mushrooms belong to the Agaricales order, Tricholomataceae family, and Lentinus genus. They have thick and tender flesh, delicious taste and unique aroma. They are a food that is both edible and medicinal. They like to grow in moist and dimly lit places, usually growing in groups on fallen broad-leaved trees.

Mushroom growth conditions

Shiitake mushrooms grow in a warm and humid environment. The optimum temperature is between 22-26℃ and the relative humidity of the space is around 70%. Shiitake mushrooms do not require any sunlight during the growth stage of their mycelium and can grow in the dark or in very weak light. They can grow vigorously in well-ventilated places.

Shiitake mushrooms have a history of more than 800 years in China. Currently, shiitake mushrooms are grown in most parts of China, most of which are artificially cultivated. The main producing areas of shiitake mushrooms are Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu and other places .
