The temperature warms up in spring, which is a good time to plant peppers . Among them, standardized pepper seedling cultivation is one of the keys to successful pepper cultivation, and cultivating strong seedlings is also a prerequisite for increasing pepper yield and output value. So what are the methods and time for growing pepper seeds? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Seedling raising time The seedling raising time is usually between mid-February and early March, which is a more suitable time. 2. Seedbed selection Choose a plot of land with convenient water source, fertile soil, plenty of sunshine, and no crops of the same family as peppers (such as peppers, eggplants, tomatoes , cabbage , potatoes, etc.) planted in the previous crop as the seedbed. The area of the seedbed is generally 1% of the field area. After the seedbed is selected, it should be watered sufficiently. 3. Seed treatment (1) Seed drying: Spread the pepper seeds in the sun for 2-3 hours. (2) Seed soaking: Soak the seeds in 55°C warm water, or soak them in 300 times diluted 50% carbendazim for 10-15 minutes to kill internal pathogens. (3) Germination: Wrap the soaked and drained seeds with a wet towel and place them in a constant temperature box at about 30°C. Maintain a certain humidity for germination. Generally, turn them over once every 6 hours and take them out and wash them with clean water every 24 hours. When the pepper seeds turn white, stop washing to avoid damaging the seedlings. You can sow them when 2/3 of the seeds have germinated. 4. Seedling cultivation method The soil for raising seedlings should be loose and well-breathable. It is best not to use garden soil, because garden soil tends to become compacted, affecting the germination rate. Seedling raising tools can be black seedling trays and seedling cups. Black color absorbs heat well and can increase soil temperature. First, water the soil thoroughly, make a small hole in the middle of the cup, and place the seeds flat on the ground or with the sprouts facing down in the hole, being careful not to damage the sprouts. Then cover with about 0.8 cm of fine soil. Place in a sunny location and wait for germination. If the indoor temperature is unstable, you can cover it with a layer of plastic wrap to keep it warm. 5. Water and fertilizer management One week after sowing, when the pepper seeds germinate, the film should be removed in time. And pay attention to timely watering and maintain the temperature at 2025℃. After the pepper seedlings emerge, pay attention to applying urea solution appropriately to ensure the growth of seedlings and improve the ability to bear fruit in the later stage. The above is an introduction to the time and method of raising pepper seeds. In short, doing a good job in pepper seedling cultivation is the basic condition for growing strong seedlings. Farmers must pay attention to it, especially the subsequent seedling management work must also keep up with it.
