1. How long does it take to bloom?

It often takes two years for peony cuttings to bloom. In the first year after cuttings, the cuttings need to grow and accumulate certain nutrients. In the second year, the nutrients are sufficient and they can basically bloom. If the environment is not good, it may take longer to bloom.

2. Cutting propagation

1. Cutting time: Peony cuttings are usually taken in July, when the temperature is relatively high and the climate is relatively humid, which is very helpful for the cuttings to take root. If the temperature is very low, the plant will grow very slowly, new roots will not grow easily, and it will be easy to freeze.

2. Cuttings processing: First select a healthy plant without diseases and insect pests, and cut a 10-15 cm long branch from it as a cutting. The cuttings should retain two nodes and some leaves, but the lower leaves should be cut off and only the upper leaves should be retained. Dip the bottom in a little indoleacetic acid solution to promote rooting.

3. Substrate preparation: The substrate prepared for peony must be loose soil, river sand can be used, but it must be soaked in 0.5% potassium permanganate solution for disinfection before use to avoid infection of new roots. Alternatively, the substrate can also be vermiculite or perlite, as long as it has strong drainage capabilities.

4. Cutting maintenance: Insert the cut peony branches into the substrate at a depth of 5 cm. If you want to cut multiple plants, you must ensure that the leaves do not overlap and cover each other. After cuttings, water thoroughly and cover with a plastic shed, maintaining the temperature between 28-30℃ and the humidity at around 50%.
