How long does it take for osmanthus to adapt to the pot?

Osmanthus acclimatization time

It is difficult to say how long it will take for the repotted osmanthus to survive. If it is a potted osmanthus, it usually takes 30-45 days of care after planting it in the pot before it will adapt to the pot.

The recovery time of osmanthus after repotting is about two months. The recovery time varies in different regions. New leaves grow in the summer of the third year.

Generally speaking, osmanthus can re-root in about 15 days. If the osmanthus tree is transplanted during its dormant period, it will take root quickly as long as the temperature is suitable and the air humidity is high.

Osmanthus fragrans has the performance of adapting to the pot

Since the roots of osmanthus will be more or less damaged when repotting, some excessively long roots need to be cut off or shortened to stimulate the growth of new roots. Therefore, the plant will not start growing immediately after being repotted, but must wait for the roots to return to normal before gradually entering the growth stage.

How to make osmanthus adapt to the pot quickly

After planting osmanthus in pots, it is usually necessary to wait for 2-3 hours to water it thoroughly. This can prevent the root wounds from coming into contact with water and becoming infected before they have healed. When watering, you can add a few drops of rooting liquid to the water, which can promote root growth and accelerate the plant's acclimatization.

How to care for osmanthus during its acclimatization period

It is best to place the newly potted osmanthus in a cool environment with a temperature of about 25°C, then slowly give it light, reduce the number of watering appropriately, and temporarily stop fertilizing.

1. Watering: The first watering after transplanting the osmanthus tree should be thorough. It is not advisable to water it every day to prevent the roots from rotting. After watering, backfill some soil and do not leave gaps in the soil to prevent the roots from drying out. It is best to water it every two days.

2. Fertilization: Osmanthus trees can be fertilized one month after transplanting in spring. Fertilizer should be applied thinly and frequently to prevent excessive concentration from causing root burn. It is recommended to dilute diammonium phosphate compound fertilizer 300 times and then water the tree tray.

3. Sunbathing: After the osmanthus is potted, it can be exposed to the sun in the morning and afternoon. There is no fixed time for sunbathing. But the afternoon sun is stronger, so it is better to choose the morning.
