How to grow hydroponic water spinach

Water spinach is a very popular vegetable . It can be stir-fried, served cold, or made into soup. Many people grow water spinach at home. It can be planted not only in soil but also in hydroponics. Here we will introduce to you the planting method of hydroponic water spinach .

1. Hydroponic environment

Water spinach hydroponics does not have high requirements for the environment. It can survive in any water body, and the more eutrophic the water body is, the taller the water spinach will grow. When growing water spinach hydroponically, you need to pay attention to the amount of algae in the water to avoid the spread of algae.

2. Seed soaking and germination

. Soak the water spinach seeds in clean water for more than 20 hours. After the seed shells have absorbed enough water and become soft, they can be germinated. Put the soaked seeds in a cloth bag, place it in an environment of 25 degrees, keep the bag moist, and wait until most of the seeds have white cracks, then you can start preparing for breeding.

3. Breeding

Evenly sow the germinated water spinach seeds on the leveled ground. If the temperature is too low, you can use ground film for insulation, and make sure the temperature is around 20 degrees. Pay attention to the soil moisture conditions and water immediately if you find the soil is dry. When the water spinach grows four or five leaves, it can be transplanted hydroponically.

4. Hydroponics

Using foam board as the easiest way to grow water spinach is the best. The main material of the foam board is polyethylene, which is light in weight. Dig holes of uniform size on the foam board, pass the roots of the water spinach through the holes until most of the roots are out of the holes. After fixing the water spinach with crushed foam, you can put it in the fish pond or ditch.

5. Post-management

When growing water spinach hydroponically, the important things are the nutrition of the water and the prevention and control of diseases and pests. When carrying out hydroponics in fish ponds, try to breed fish like carp and black carp in the fish ponds, and do not breed herbivorous fish such as grass carps. The pests of hydroponic water spinach are basically only diamondback moth, aphids, red spiders, etc. If you choose hydroponics, you can basically only use biological control to control pests. Spraying the leaves of water spinach with wood ash solution can kill pests while providing certain nutrients for the growth of water spinach.
