When is the best time to prune the lucky tree? How to prune the branches and leaves of the lucky tree

1. Pruning time

The lucky tree is usually pruned in summer and winter, with summer pruning taking place in July. Since the plant grows faster at this time, it can recover well after pruning. Winter pruning is done in December when the temperature is lower. Proper pruning can reduce nutrient consumption and is also beneficial to growth in the second year, but it should not be pruned too heavily.

2. Pruning method

1. Pinch the top: When the lucky tree grows to a certain height, it needs to be pinched. The time for pinching is not fixed. Usually, if it is grown at home, it should be done as early as possible to prevent it from growing too tall and becoming inconvenient to care for. But if you grow it outdoors, you can wait a little longer so that it can grow taller and look more beautiful. After removing the apical bud, the plant will lose its apical dominance, which can also promote the development of side branches and inhibit excessive growth.

2. Thinning: The lucky tree grows very fast. If it is not thinned in time, the branches and leaves will block each other, which will not only affect the appearance, but also be detrimental to the internal ventilation and light transmission, and may also cause diseases and insect pests. Usually, branches that are too long and too dense should be cut off, and crossed branches, overlapping branches, etc. should also be removed in time to make it look cleaner and neater.

3. Root pruning: Under normal circumstances, the lucky tree does not need root pruning, but if the plant's roots rot due to excessive water and fertilizer, the roots must be pruned in time. First remove the plant from the pot, then cut off the rotten parts with scissors, and apply carbendazim on the wound, which can have a disinfecting effect. After it dries, you can replant it with new sterilized soil.
