Breeding techniques and precautions for golden diamonds

The scientific name of the Philodendron philodendron is Philodendron philodendron. It is a foliage plant with great ornamental value. It has dark green leaves and beautiful plant shape. It also has the function of purifying the air. Avoid direct sunlight, especially in summer, and avoid exposure to the sun, otherwise the leaves will easily become burnt or yellow. The following are the cultivation techniques and precautions for golden diamond.

1. Soil selection

The soil requirements of the golden diamond are not high, but loose, breathable, well-drained and slightly acidic soil rich in humus is preferred. You can use peat soil, perlite , and bone meal in a ratio of 3:2:1, or mix leaf mold, garden soil, and perlite in a ratio of 3:2:1.

2. Lighting management

Golden diamond likes semi-shaded environment and avoids direct sunlight. It is suitable to be placed in places with sufficient diffuse light, such as bright places indoors or shaded balconies. In summer, shade is needed to avoid leaf burns.

3. Temperature control

The suitable temperature for growth is 20-30℃, and the temperature in winter needs to be kept above 10℃ to avoid frost damage.

4. Moisture Management

Golden diamond likes moisture but is afraid of stagnant water. Watering should follow the principle of "water when the soil is dry and water when the soil is wet", that is, water after the soil surface is dry. When the temperature is high in summer, you can increase the frequency of watering appropriately and spray water to keep it moist.

5. Fertilization method

Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every half month during the growing season, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, to promote green leaves. However, excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer should be avoided to prevent the plants from growing too tall.

6. Notes

Regularly trim the withered and yellow leaves and overcrowded branches and leaves to keep the plants ventilated and well-lit to promote the growth of new buds. The golden diamond is often propagated by cuttings. Cut the strong stems and insert them into river sand. Keep it in semi-shade and high humidity. It will take 20-25 days to take root. Propagation by division can be carried out when new shoots grow at the base of the old plant.

The golden diamond plant is afraid of strong light and needs shade in summer, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow easily. Excessive watering can easily lead to root rot, so the soil needs to be kept moist but not waterlogged.

The above are the key points for the maintenance of golden diamonds. In winter, golden diamonds need to be moved to a warm place indoors to avoid low temperature damage. Golden Diamond is less susceptible to diseases and pests, but attention should be paid to ventilation to avoid water accumulation on the leaves or long-term exposure to a humid environment. The pot and soil need to be changed every 1-2 years to replenish nutrients and promote healthy growth of the plant.
