What fertilizer to use for blueberries

What fertilizer to use for blueberries

Blueberry cultivation conditions are relatively strict and are sensitive to fertilizers, so we must choose some more rigorous and scientific methods when fertilizing blueberries. For example, different fertilizers should be selected according to the different needs of the growth period, mainly nitrogen fertilizer before germination, mainly nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers after fruit setting, and mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before harvesting.

Fertilizer for blueberries

There are many kinds of fertilizers for blueberries. Avoid using fertilizers such as ammonium chloride, potassium chloride, ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and calcium ammonium nitrate. Use organic fertilizer + balanced potassium sulfate compound fertilizer. During its growth process, the fertilizer required is also different. For example, when it is growing vigorously, it needs to be supplemented with organic fertilizer.

1. Fertilize during flowering period

When the blueberry flowering period is slightly earlier than the normal flowering period, spray a mixture of urea, borax, and 800 times of methylparaben. If there is gray mold at the mouth of the flower, remove all the diseased flowers and then spray the Chlor solution. After the leaves unfold, spray a mixture of foliar fertilizer and urine once every 15 days, and spray 3 to 4 times a week.

2. Fertilization during fruit setting

After the blueberries set fruit, apply compound fertilizer and spray urea + potassium dihydrogen phosphate + trace elements + methotrexate once every ten days, for a total of three times, to promote fruit development. For small trees, continue to manage water and fertilizer, mainly to promote growth, enhance tree vigor, and control tree shape.

3. Post-harvest fertilization

After applying base fertilizer to blueberries in autumn, you can add a small amount of chemical fertilizer to the ditch with decomposed cow dung or sheep dung as the main fertilizer. Water the plants in time after application. Spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every ten days in October, for a total of three to four times, to promote flower bud differentiation, strengthen the branches, and enhance cold resistance.

Blueberry Fertilization Method

Blueberry fertilization is mainly nitrogen fertilizer, which is generally used 10-15 days before blueberry germination. Medium-nitrogen, low-phosphorus, and high-potassium fertilizer is mainly used after fruit setting, while medium-phosphorus and high-potassium fertilizer is mainly used 10 days before color change. Blueberry roots are shallow, so the depth of fertilization should not be too deep. Different varieties use different fertilization methods.
