Rose is not only a beautiful flower , but also an economic plant of extremely high value, and its planting prospects are very broad. Of course, there are many ways to grow roses. In addition to potted plants , ground planting is also very suitable. What are the cultivation methods and precautions for ground-planted roses? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Planting site selection Roses are light-loving, cold-resistant, drought-tolerant, and afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, you should choose to plant it in temperate regions, or in sunny places with higher terrain and cooler temperatures. 2. Land preparation and fertilization Before cultivating roses, the land must be deeply plowed, sufficient base fertilizer must be applied, preferably well-rotted manure, and holes must be dug for planting. Planting can be done in autumn, winter, and early spring, with a plant spacing of 160-200 cm and about 400 plants per acre. 3. Planting method Select good quality seeds before sowing, then soak the seeds in salt water for 3-5 minutes to sterilize and disinfect them. After drying, continue to soak them in warm water for 4-6 hours and then you can sow them. When sowing, sow the prepared and germinated seeds into the soil. Remember to keep the soil moist. They will germinate after half a month. 4. Watering management Roses are drought-resistant but not waterlogged, so watering should be done after the soil is dry. Water once every 1-2 days during droughts, water once a day during hot summer and early autumn, water appropriately before flowering, and pay attention to drainage after rain. 5. Fertilization points Ground-planted roses are not very demanding on fertilizer . Generally, they are fertilized three times, namely, before the flowers bloom and before the spring buds sprout. It is best to choose well-rotted manure and leaf mold; fertilize after flowering, and apply well-rotted cake fertilizer residue once after the roses wither to supplement the nutrients consumed by flowering; fertilize in winter, and apply manure once after the rose flowers and leaves wither to ensure that the roses can safely overwinter. 6. Reasonable pruning Roses have strong germination ability. If not pruned in time, the branches will often grow thin and die due to the dense clusters. Generally, pruning can be done after the leaves fall, and the amount of pruning can be larger, focusing on thinning out diseased and insect-infested branches, dead branches, and overly dense and thin branches. For the branches left, half of the strong branches are cut off, and two-thirds of the weak branches are cut off. In general, the cultivation methods of ground-planted roses and potted roses are not much different, with only some differences in details. Of course, if you want to grow roses well, you must first understand its growth habits clearly, so that you can get twice the result with half the effort when planting it.
