Technology of cultivating white shrimp in ponds

The whiteleg shrimp is one of the main freshwater farmed shrimp varieties in China. It grows fast, has tender meat, good taste, strong adaptability, and considerable farming benefits. Below, I will introduce the technology of pond farming of whiteleg shrimp . Let’s take a look.

1. Choose a breeding site

Choose a pond with sufficient water, no pollution, convenient drainage and irrigation, and with mud and sand on the bottom. It needs to be surrounded by film to prevent invasion by natural enemies. The stocking density is 30,000 to 50,000 per acre.

2. Shrimp fry processing

Before breeding, you should choose healthy shrimps with bright body color, no disease and no feces for breeding. Before feeding, you can use potassium permanganate solution to soak and disinfect, then add Vinodactyl bacteria to adjust the water, splash water, and then release the seedlings at a reasonable density according to the area of the pond to maintain the normal activity space of the white shrimp.

3. Water quality management

The most ideal water color for breeding white shrimp is yellow-green formed by green algae, and the water quality needs to be maintained regularly. For example, applying fertilizer and changing water, keep the water transparency at about 30 cm. The water needs to be replaced every week to observe the fertility of the aquaculture water and maintain moderate transparency of the water body. If you find shrimps floating on the water, which means the water is lacking in oxygen, you need to replace the water in time to prevent the shrimps from dying due to lack of oxygen. If there is too much bait left in the pond, it can also cause shrimp diseases. Timely removal of turbid water can reduce the occurrence of diseases.

4. Feeding management

Feed the shrimp fry with small fish and plankton three times a day. You can also feed them special feed for shrimp fry or some compound feed . The feeding amount should be determined based on the size of the shrimp, survival rate, water quality, environment, feed quality and other factors. Follow the principle of small amounts and multiple times. Feed 2-3 times a day, feed multiple times a day, with 60%-70% of the feed being fed at night.

5. Pond patrol management

The pond should be inspected three times a day, once in the morning, noon and evening, paying attention to the color of the water and the activity and eating habits of the white shrimp. If the white shrimp are slow in activity, you need to turn on the aerator to increase the oxygen in the water.

The above is the technology for pond farming of whiteleg shrimp. Once the disease occurs during the farming process of whiteleg shrimp, it is difficult to treat, so prevention is the main approach during the farming process.
