Cultivation techniques of fortune tree

The leaves of the money tree are beautiful in shape, bright green and shiny, and they symbolize wealth and good luck, so they are loved by everyone. But many friends said that their money trees always shed leaves. Let’s learn some techniques for growing money trees.

1. Reasonable watering

The temperature is lower in winter and the evaporation rate of water slows down. Overwatering may cause root rot and yellowing of leaves. Therefore, when caring for the money tree in winter, you can control watering appropriately and wait until the soil in the pot is slightly dry before watering again. If you use tap water, you can expose the water to the sun first, and then water it after the water temperature is slightly higher, so as to avoid damage to the roots due to too low water temperature.

2. Avoid strong light

The money tree prefers a semi-shaded environment and is afraid of direct sunlight. Gradually increasing the light can help the plant adapt, but long-term indoor or newly purchased money trees exposed to direct sunlight can easily burn the leaves and cause the branches and leaves to wither. When caring for the money tree indoors, avoid placing it under direct sunlight, but long-term lack of sunlight will also affect its growth and cause yellow leaves and other phenomena. You can place it in a place with scattered light to receive an appropriate amount of scattered light.

3. Control the amount of watering

The money tree likes a humid environment, but is also afraid of water. Root rot during maintenance is usually caused by improper watering. When watering the money tree, do not water it too frequently. As long as the soil in the pot is not dry, there is no need to water it. Follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and wetting when the soil is wet.

4. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

In the daily maintenance of the money tree, in addition to paying attention to watering, fertilization is also very important. Reasonable fertilization can avoid damage to the root system and promote plant growth. When fertilizing the money tree, you should follow the principle of "applying small amounts of fertilizer frequently" and apply fertilizer in small amounts multiple times. Avoid using unfermented fruit peels, eggshells, tea residues, etc. During the growth period, you can frequently apply thin liquid fertilizer, such as fermented rice water, milk water, fruit peel water, etc. If you have multiple potted flowers at home, you can prepare plant nutrient solution and water them 1 to 2 times a month.

5. Antifreeze and keep warm

The money tree is a southern plant and has poor cold resistance. During maintenance in the north, it is easy to be frostbitten, causing the entire plant to wither. In winter, the money tree needs to be moved indoors in advance and the temperature should be kept no lower than 10℃. Under low temperature conditions, the leaves of the plants may turn yellow and fall off. In early spring, do not move the money tree outdoors too early, because the temperature is still unstable and the temperature difference between day and night is large, which can easily cause frostbite to the plant. Wait until after the Qingming Festival, when the temperature is stable, and then move it outdoors for maintenance.

In short, it is not difficult to take good care of the money tree. First, understand its growth habits, then water and fertilize it properly, and avoid direct sunlight. This can effectively prevent root rot and yellowing of leaves, and make the plant grow lushly.
