Is the fortune tree still alive if its bark rots?

Is the fortune tree still alive if its bark rots?

1. Can I still live?

The bark rot of the money tree is only a surface phenomenon; the deeper reason is root damage. There are many reasons for root damage, which may be caused by overwatering, too concentrated fertilizer, or pests and diseases. According to different causes, appropriate treatment should be found.

2. How to treat

1. Check for root rot: Stop watering for a while, wait for the soil in the pot to dry and separate from the pot wall, then take the money tree out of the pot. Wash away the dirt on the roots with a cleaning cloth and cut off the rotten roots with a sterilized knife, also removing the rotten areas of the bark.

2. Soak and disinfect: After removing the rotten roots and rotten bark, the wounds of the money tree must be disinfected. Generally, carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution is used. Place the plants in the fully diluted disinfectant and soak for 30 minutes.

3. Wound recovery: The money tree cannot be planted immediately after soaking. Apply wood ash or rooting powder to the roots, which is very helpful for its wound recovery. At the same time, avoid infection, which will further worsen the situation.

4. Replanting: Choose a new pot and new soil, and disinfect it before use. Putting broken tiles at the bottom of the pot will help enhance drainage. After planting, water the potting soil slightly moist. You can sprinkle water on the leaves to keep them moist, and new roots will grow in about three weeks.
