Planting and management of the lotus lantern

The Medinia paniculata, also known as the Medinia paniculata flower and the Medinia paniculata, is a perennial small shrub with a dense plant shape and dark green color. Its natural flowering period is from February to August. The flowering period of a single plant can last for 3 to 5 months, and it has a very high ornamental value. Below, the editor will introduce the planting and management of the Lotus Lantern, let’s take a look.

1. Soil

The roots of the cardinal lantern are relatively thick, and the soil needs good drainage and air permeability. Sandy soil or clay are definitely not the substrates to choose. Leaf mold or peat soil are more ideal choices. If you want to make the flowers more colorful, you can increase the acidity of the soil slightly and keep the pH value at around 4.0. If you change the pot, you need to add new soil while keeping the soil moist.

2. Temperature

The lotus lantern likes high temperature and humidity, so summer is naturally its peak growth season. But we can't put it in direct sunlight, it needs proper shade. The indoor temperature in winter cannot be lower than 16℃. If the temperature is lower, it will enter a dormant state and the flower buds will slowly fall off. When the temperature is below 5°C, the plants may die.

3. Lighting

The lotus lantern likes an environment with plenty of sunlight, but is afraid of prolonged exposure to strong sunlight. If the light in the planting environment is too strong, it will not only burn the leaves and flowers, but also easily cause the lotus lantern to drop buds and flowers, affecting its appreciation. The Lotus Lantern is suitable for being placed in a south-facing living room or windowsill with sufficient light. The light is strong in summer, so it needs proper shade, or you can pull up the gauze curtain at noon to cultivate it. You can also place it in a semi-shaded environment to enjoy the flowers during the flowering period.

4. Watering

Under normal circumstances, the lotus lantern needs relatively good air humidity during its growth process. The air humidity needs to reach 65%-85% during the seedling period, and 60%-80% during the seedling period. Low air humidity will slow down the growth of seedlings. If the humidity is maintained well, its leaves will definitely be shiny. Do not water the Lotus Lantern frequently when it is in bloom, otherwise it may shorten the flowering period and cause the flowers to fall off. In addition to necessary watering in summer, you should also spray water around the plants to increase humidity.

5. Fertilization

During the growth process of the Lotus Lantern, the nutrients must be "balanced". Excessive nitrogen fertilizer can easily cause the stems to grow too long and droop, affecting its appearance and flowering. The main fertilizer for the lotus lantern is a thin liquid of compound fertilizer , and you can also use a thin liquid of decomposed fertilizer. After the flower buds appear, apply 1-2 times of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote the growth of flowers and color.

6. Pruning

Pruning, especially pruning after flowering, is particularly important. For the Polygonum multiflorum, it is related to whether the Polygonum multiflorum can bloom again. This is also one of the reasons why many flower lovers do not see the Polygonum multiflorum bloom. Therefore, cut off 1/2 of the flowering branches of the Myrtles' lantern after it blooms to encourage it to sprout new flowering branches so that it can bloom again.

The above is the planting and management of the lotus lantern. The lotus lantern needs ventilation and should be sprayed with water regularly 2-3 times a day. Adjust the spray of the spray bottle to the minimum and use the finest spray to spray the entire leaf with tiny water droplets attached. This will increase the humidity of the air.
