Bullfrog breeding technology and management

Bullfrog breeding technology and management

Bullfrog is a common aquatic animal with tender meat, delicious taste and rich nutrition, and is deeply loved by consumers. It is high in protein and low in fat, making it a healthy food choice. Below, the editor will introduce the bullfrog breeding technology and management, let’s take a look.

1. Breeding pond construction

The area of the breeding pond is generally 1,000-2,000 square meters. The edge of the pond is surrounded by a 1.5-meter-high wall made of red bricks, and the bottom is 40 centimeters deep underground to prevent bullfrogs from escaping. Sloping areas and vegetation are set up in the pond to provide resting and foraging places for bullfrogs. The water depth of the pond is maintained at 30-40 cm, and the water supply and drainage system is complete.

2. Seedling selection

You should choose frogs that are disease-free, uninjured, responsive, strong, well-developed and energetic. Breeding frogs should be 23 years old and weigh between 400-500 grams. Male frogs should have intact vocal sacs and obvious nuptial pads. Female frogs should have a relatively swollen abdomen, soft and elastic skin, shiny skin, and intact body.

3. Water quality management

Water quality management of adult frog breeding ponds is equally important. Water should be changed regularly to keep the water fresh. When the water temperature is high in summer, it is best to change the water 1-2 times a day, changing 1/2 of the pool water each time, and disinfecting once a month with quicklime or bleaching powder.

4. Feed management

The feeding of bait should be based on the "four determinations", namely, fixed location, fixed time, fixed quantity and fixed quality. Half an hour before feeding, soak the compound feed in clean water to soften and swell the feed slightly. This can prevent the bait from absorbing sewage in the pond, avoid gastrointestinal diseases in the bullfrog after eating, and promote the bullfrog's absorption of nutrients.

5. Disease prevention and treatment

Common diseases of bullfrogs include red leg disease, bubble disease, skin rot and gastroenteritis. Including monthly disinfection, regular water changes and keeping the water clean. For sick frogs, soak them in 2-5% salt water for 15 minutes once a day for 3 consecutive days for treatment.

The above is an introduction to bullfrog breeding technology and management. The prospects for bullfrog breeding are becoming increasingly broad. Breeding bullfrogs requires regular inspections of the ponds, observing the growth and feeding conditions of the bullfrogs, and taking timely measures if any abnormalities are found.
