Why are the leaves of Kalanchoe turning yellow?

Kalanchoe is widely popular for its delicate and compact plant shape, thick leaves, dark green and shiny leaf color, graceful flower shape and bright color. However, yellowing of leaves is a common problem in the care of Kalanchoe. Let’s take a look at why the leaves of Kalanchoe turn yellow.

1. Natural metabolism

If the upper leaves of the Kalanchoe are normal but the edges of the lower leaves begin to turn yellow, this is usually the result of natural metabolism.

Solution: To maintain the beauty, just cut off the yellowing leaves.

2. Sun exposure

Kalanchoe likes light, but excessive exposure to the sun will cause the leaves to dry out. This is especially likely to happen in the summer.

Solution: Move the Kalanchoe to a cool and ventilated place, and water and spray it appropriately to cool it down. If necessary, prune off severely browned leaves.

3. Improper watering

If the leaves become soft first and then turn yellow, and the soil in the pot is too wet, it may be caused by water accumulation.

Solution: Reduce watering and allow excess water to evaporate. In serious cases, you can dig out the plant, trim the roots and branches, and put it back in the pot. New shoots will gradually grow after a few days.

4. Fertilization issues

Improper fertilization, especially excessive fertilization, can also cause yellowing leaves.

Solution: Apply an appropriate amount of base fertilizer when turning the soil and changing pots to avoid fertilizer damage.

The above is an analysis of the reasons why the leaves of Kalanchoe turn yellow. However, it should be noted that the leaves of Kalanchoe are fleshy leaves, which are drought-resistant but not water-resistant.
