How to prune Spathiphyllum

1. Root

When growing peace lilies in water, you can observe the roots frequently. If you find that the roots are growing too densely, or if they are dry or rotten, you need to take them out and trim them in time. The roots of soil-grown plants are less frequently pruned, but this point cannot be ignored. After 1-2 years of cultivation, the pots and soil need to be changed. This is the right time to prune the roots, comb out the messy roots, cut off the old and rotten roots on them, do not damage the healthy roots, apply rooting agent and replant them in the pot.

2. Blades

The leaves are the focus of pruning. They grow relatively fast and vigorously. Because of metabolism, they will produce many yellow leaves, dead leaves, etc., so they need to be pruned regularly. Usually, we mainly focus on yellow and aging leaves. Once such leaves are found, they need to be cut off in time. The pruning should start from the base, and do not leave any long petioles underneath. This can reduce nutrient consumption and increase the overall beauty.

3. Flowers

Its flowering period is from May to August every year. When the flowers bloom and wither, the remaining flowers need to be removed. Leaving them on the plant will affect its appearance and consume a lot of nutrients in vain. Pruning should also be done from the base to facilitate flowering next year.
