How to grow Edelweiss

How to grow Edelweiss

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: According to its place of origin, it prefers a cooler environment. Therefore, the temperature between fifteen and twenty degrees is more suitable. A too hot environment will threaten its growth, so generally don't exceed 30 degrees. In addition, it has very good cold resistance and generally does not require any attention in winter.

2. Light: Edelweiss likes light, but it is also slightly shade-tolerant, but it cannot survive in a dark environment for a long time. Try to keep it in an environment with plenty of diffuse light. In addition, it should be noted that although it likes light, too strong light is not good, so it needs to be shaded.

3. Watering: Edelweiss is relatively drought-resistant, and too much waterlogging will have a very adverse effect on its growth. Therefore, you can water it according to the principle of "better dry than wet" and do not let it be exposed to rain. The air humidity is preferably between 40 and 60 percent. Too high a humidity can easily lead to some diseases and pests.

4. Fertilization: Edelweiss does not require much fertilizer and can be fertilized once a month or so. The important thing is to choose soil rich in nutrients.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: A commonly used method is sowing. Before sowing, the seeds need to be germinated by soaking them in warm water for twelve to twenty-four hours. It is more appropriate to sow in autumn, as the chance of germination is higher. After sowing, keep the temperature at around 20 degrees. It will sprout in about five to ten days. When it has three to four true leaves, it can be transplanted.

2. Pruning: Before flowering, the plant needs to be topped at least once, so that more branches will sprout and there will be more flowers. Then, after flowering, you can prune it again to cut off the remaining flowers.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: Since the temperature of the environment in which it grows is relatively low, there are not many diseases. Some diseases are prone to occur when the temperature and humidity are relatively high. The surrounding environment needs to be adjusted in time while spraying the pesticide.

2. Pests: The temperature is low and there are relatively few pests. You can spray some pesticides every ten to fifteen days to control them and there will be no problem.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: Edelweiss is non-toxic and harmless.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, but generally speaking, Edelweiss is more widely used in gardens, such as in some flower beds, flower mirrors, etc.
