How to grow water lilies

How to grow water lilies

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Since it is mainly grown in tropical and subtropical regions, relatively higher temperatures are more suitable. It can be kept within the range of 20 to 30 degrees, which is more conducive to its growth. It is still relatively afraid of cold, especially because it is aquatic, so the temperature must not be below zero degrees.

2. Light: The sleeping lotus is a light-loving plant. It grows well under good diffuse light conditions, and it also needs the help of light to bloom. However, it is best to avoid too strong light, otherwise its leaves will easily wilt.

3. Water level: Since the Sleeping Lotus is grown in water, a very important issue is the depth of the water. Generally speaking, a water depth between 25 and 30 centimeters is more appropriate. In the summer when evaporation is faster, you need to pay attention to replenishing water.

4. Fertilization: The water lily does not require much fertilizer. Relatively speaking, fertilizer is more important during the flowering period and can be supplemented in appropriate amounts.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: You can use the method of division for reproduction. Generally speaking, spring is more suitable. The material used is its rhizome. After digging out suitable rhizomes, cut them into small pieces about ten centimeters long, each of which must have a sprout. When choosing soil, you can use soil with more humus. During the planting period, the amount of water should be controlled at two centimeters or three centimeters, not too deep. When it grows two to four leaves, it can be transplanted into the pond and given more water.

2. Pruning: The pruning of the water lily mainly occurs when diseases and insect pests occur. The diseased parts need to be cut off in time. In addition, there are yellowing leaves.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Diseases: Diseases are less common than insect pests, so prevention is the main approach. You can use some fungicides regularly.

2. Pests: The two main types are aphids and water lily moths. The damage caused by larvae is relatively great. You can use nets to catch them, or you can use pesticides to control them.

IV. Other issues

1. Flower language: Its flower language is closely related to the length of its flowering period, which is "indifferent love".

2. Can it be grown at home: It can be grown in water at home, but this plant is relatively rare.
