How to plant Amaryllis? Planting time and method

Planting time of Amaryllis

The planting time of Amaryllis is generally in March and April in spring, when the temperature is suitable, which increases the chance of survival.

How to plant Amaryllis

Amaryllis needs to be properly processed before planting. The seed skin should be removed and the withered roots should be trimmed. Then, it should be soaked in 30℃ warm water for 1 to 2 hours, and then soaked in carbendazim for 15 minutes.

Amaryllis needs loose and breathable soil. You can choose peat, vermiculite and perlite and mix them in a ratio of 2:1:1. In addition, add some calcium phosphate as base fertilizer to increase the fertility of the soil. Finally, you can add some carbendazim for disinfection.

When planting, its bulb needs to be exposed so that its growth status can be seen. When it sprouts new buds, it needs to be covered with a layer of soil and watered appropriately for maintenance.

How to plant the newly bought Amaryllis

1. Repotting: Amaryllis should be planted in fertile, loose, well-drained soil, so the flowerpot should be breathable and well-drained.

2. Temperature: The newly purchased amaryllis cannot be placed in a place with high temperature. It needs to be placed in a shaded place for maintenance. It can be placed in the corridor or a place in the home where the temperature is not too high.

3. Sunlight: It loves sunlight very much. Appropriate amount of light will promote its growth, but it cannot accept strong light, otherwise the plant will wither.

How to grow Amaryllis quickly

To grow Amaryllis, you need to use sandy soil with good drainage. The ambient temperature can be between 18-22℃. It is best to keep it under scattered light. Provide appropriate light and maintain good ventilation. Water it in moderation and do not water it too much, causing the soil in the pot to become overly moist.

Precautions for potted cultivation of Amaryllis

During the winter, watering should be reduced to keep the soil dry. Prune overlong and withered branches and flowers in time.
