How to care for Phalaenopsis after it blooms

How to care for Phalaenopsis after it blooms

1. Proper pruning

After the flowers fade, proper pruning is needed. Dead and diseased branches should be removed first, and overgrown branches should be shortened appropriately. If the flower stalks continue to remain, they will consume nutrients, so they need to be cut off to concentrate the nutrients, which will also be conducive to the second flowering and ensure growth next year.

2. Ensure lighting

After flowering, sufficient sunlight must be ensured, which can also help accumulate nutrients and promote good growth of the plant. However, it should be noted that the summer sunlight is too strong and needs to be blocked and not exposed to the sun.

3. Repotting

After the flowering period, the nutrients are almost consumed and the flowerpots need to be replaced in time. This can be done in March or April in spring, which can also help the recovery of the plants and their growth. The new soil should be as loose as possible and rich in nutrients.

4. Nutritional Supplementation

Flowering consumes a lot of nutrients. After the flowering period, add appropriate amount of slow-release fertilizer to promote the plant to resume growth and ensure the subsequent growth of the plant.

5. Pay attention to the temperature

The most suitable temperature is around 25-30 degrees. Try to keep it within this range after flowering and avoid extreme temperatures.
