How to grow sweet potato seedlings

How to grow sweet potato seedlings

1. Time Selection

It is usually chosen around March or April in spring, when the climate is normal and mild, which is a great advantage for cultivating sweet potato seedlings and is beneficial for later growth recovery.

2. Choose sweet potatoes

Before raising seedlings, you must first select the sweet potatoes and prepare fresh sweet potatoes of the year. They should be plump and full, have a certain vitality, and have no damage on the surface and no diseases or pests. This will help their later growth.

3. Start raising seedlings

Find a suitable shallow container that doesn’t need to be too deep, put the selected sweet potatoes in it, then add a little water to ensure that the bottom of the sweet potatoes are immersed. Place it in a semi-shaded and windy place. After a few days, new shoots will slowly grow, and the new ones on top can be cut off.

4. Planting in the soil

Before planting it in the potting soil, you must first choose a suitable flowerpot, as large as possible, because it grows faster and has larger roots. If the flowerpot is too small, it will be difficult to absorb normal nutrients. After preparing the flowerpot, fill it with suitable loam, making sure it is loose and breathable, plant the sprouted sweet potatoes in it, place it in the sun to absorb sunlight, and water it every few days.
