1. What fruit trees can be grafted? The crabapple tree can be grafted onto apple trees, yew trees, pear trees, or other different varieties of crabapple trees. When grafting, you must not only choose the right fruit tree to be grafted, but also choose the right time. It can be done in spring or in autumn from July to September. After choosing the right time, the survival rate of grafting can be greatly improved. 2. Grafting methodWhen grafting, you can use branch grafting or bud grafting. Branch grafting is mostly suitable for grafting in spring. Choose strong branches that have grown for one year and have at least 2 or more buds on them. Bud grafting is suitable for July to September. If the buds are still fresh after grafting, it proves that the grafting is successful. 3. Grafting stepsChoose strong branches with full buds, and control the length to about 6-10cm. Use a sharp tool to cut a relatively symmetrical bevel, which should be flat and smooth. Cut the rootstock 20cm from the ground, cut downwards at the cross section, the depth should be 2-2.4cm, finally insert the scion into the incision, adjust the alignment and tie it up. |
