Can Hawaiian bamboo bloom? How to grow it to make it bloom?

1. Can it bloom?

Hawaiian bamboo can bloom if properly cared for. It usually starts to bloom in November and soon after, it starts to bear fruit. The entire flowering and fruiting period can last about 2 months. Its flowers grow in the upper and middle parts of the plant. The inflorescence is fleshy and mostly white, light yellow, pink and other colors.

2. How to grow flowers

1. Temperature: If you want to make it bloom, the temperature must be controlled well. It will go dormant and fail to bloom in an environment below 13°C. During the flowering period, you need to keep the temperature around 20℃ so that it can bloom.

2. Sunlight: When caring for it, it needs to receive an appropriate amount of scattered sunlight to help it accumulate nutrients so that it can bloom. However, because it does not like strong light, it is necessary to provide shade in time when the light is too strong.

3. Water: When it grows, it needs to be watered in time, which will make it grow better and easier to bloom. However, during the flowering period, water needs to be controlled slightly to avoid affecting its flowering.

4. Fertilization: If you want to make it bloom, you need to stop applying nitrogen fertilizer around September and switch to phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. This will prompt it to change its growth pattern, turn to reproductive growth, and thus bloom.
