1. Pruning time

1. Summer: Usually, pruning can be done in May or June in the north and earlier in the south. Pruning should not be done too early in the north. The purpose of pruning it at this time is to promote the growth of branches so that it can bloom and bear fruit better.

2. Winter: Pruning is mostly done during the dormant period. In northern regions, pruning should not be done too late. It is best to do it in early spring, otherwise it will affect its growth.

2. Pruning method

1. Pinching: When the jujube tree grows to a certain height, the tender shoots on the top need to be pruned off, which can effectively control the growth of the tree. Also, when the sprouts grow to about 5-10cm, they should be properly removed.

2. Thinning branches: This method is to make the date tree grow more evenly and provide better ventilation. Generally, it means pruning away diseased and insect-infested branches, crossed branches, drooping branches, and branches that are too dense.

3. Pruning: During its growth period, the primary branches or secondary branches need to be shortened. The specific pruning length depends on the growth of the tree. Some of the longer branches also need to be shortened.
