1. Branch selectionBoth of these methods are asexual reproduction and require the use of branches, but the branches used in the two methods are different. Layering is to select a longer branch from the plant that is long enough to press it to the ground, so that layering propagation can be achieved. Cuttings are made by selecting a healthy branch from the plant. Depending on the growth needs of the plant, one-year-old twigs or two-year-old branches can be chosen. The leaves at the top must be retained, and the leaves at the bottom must be removed to ensure vitality and increase the chance of survival. 2. Operation methodLayering is to dig a hole near the plant, bury the long branches in it, then pile up soil and spray water to keep them moist. After a period of time, they can be separated from the mother plant with scissors, and then cultivated separately to form a new main body. Of course, there are slight differences in the operation for different tree species. Ordinary layering is suitable for plants with soft branches, and piled soil layering is suitable for plants with strong root and rhizome parts. When taking cuttings, just cut the branches directly at the beginning, process the branches well, and let the wounds dry. Then choose a substrate that is breathable and well-drained, insert the branches into it for cultivation, wait for roots to grow inside, and then you can transplant and formally cultivate them. |
