How to propagate lucky bamboo

Soil insertion method

time

The most suitable time for spring cuttings is from late January to mid-February. They can be planted directly in pots and usually take root in 30 to 35 days. Alternatively, you can do cuttings in mid-March or early April, because the temperature will gradually rise and the humidity will increase during this period. The cuttings will take root 7 to 15 days after cutting, and the survival rate is 100%, which is relatively short.

method

Every spring, cut 20 to 25 cm top branches (tender stems), soak them in potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes, and then dry them in a cool place.

After drying, insert the branches into the pot. The soil should be mainly sandy loam, and 2 stem nodes should be buried in the soil. Water once a day, and after 34 to 45 days of rooting, resume normal maintenance.

Water plugging method

Cut off branches

In spring, according to the growth of lucky bamboo, cut the branches with stem tips that have been growing in the shade indoors for a long time.

Cut off the leaves around it, put it directly into water, control the water temperature at around 25℃, and it will take root after half a month.

Change water frequently

Rooting in water cuttings is different from rooting in soil cuttings. Water cuttings need to change the water frequently to ensure the water quality is clean. Change the water every 3 to 4 days before rooting. The amount of water should also be controlled at ordinary times. Only one-third of the stem should be immersed in water. Too much water will make it difficult for the plant to take root.

Temperature controlled lighting

Lucky bamboo likes warmth. During the water insertion period, control the surrounding temperature to 16~25℃ and do not place it in a cold place. In addition, before rooting, it needs to be fully exposed to light, which is the key to successful water insertion.

After half a month, many white roots will grow at the bottom of your lucky bamboo, which means that the water insertion is successful. At this time, you can continue to grow it in water or plant it in a pot.
