How to prune a Schefflera tree

How to prune a Schefflera tree

1. How to prune a single pole

If during the maintenance process, you encounter a situation where only the main stem is left, don't worry, as pruning can still promote the growth of side branches. Cut the main stem about 30 cm away. Cutting off the top part will inhibit the upward growth trend, so that nutrients are no longer concentrated on the upper part, but will promote the formation of side buds. After irregular pruning, side buds will grow out.

2. Late pruning

After side buds grow, pruning continues to enrich the shape of the plant. When the side buds grow to 15-20cm, you can trim them again so that more side buds will sprout. When the side buds on the plant grow to a certain extent, they need to be thinned out to remove some of the ones that are too densely distributed to reduce nutrient consumption.

It exists as an ornamental plant, so maintaining its shape is very important. You need to have a general grasp of the plant's growth in order to construct it well.

3. Auxiliary Operation

In order to change the plant from a main stem state to a rich plant shape, pruning alone is not enough. It is also necessary to spray water on it frequently. Only when the humidity is reached can a large number of side buds sprout.
