How to cultivate red plum in potted plants

How to cultivate red plum in potted plants

1. Control watering

There is no definite rule for watering. Watering should be applied according to weather changes and growth conditions. During the growth period of branches, pay attention to watering. After the flower buds grow out, the amount of watering should be reduced, otherwise it will easily cause the flower buds to fall. When watering, pay attention to using stale water after standing still, and ensure that the water temperature is basically the same.

2. Apply fertilizer

It likes fertilizer very much. When repotting, apply enough base fertilizer to ensure that the plant absorbs enough nutrients. Fertilize according to seasonal changes. In spring and autumn, the plant grows vigorously, so fertilize once every half a month. In summer and autumn, the amount of fertilizer required decreases, and a small amount of phosphorus and potassium can be applied. After the flowers bloom, apply diluted organic fertilizer. You can also spray foliar fertilizer about twice a month.

3. Plenty of Sunlight

During the growth process, sufficient sunlight is needed so that the branches, leaves and flower buds can grow normally. If they are kept in the shade for a long time, their growth will be adversely affected and the flower buds will not grow.

4. Pay attention to changing pots

Generally, repotting is needed every 1-2 years. The time should be after flowering. Take out the plant and cut off the dead and rotten roots nearby. Be careful not to damage the main root system. Replace with loose loam, which can be mixed with garden soil, humus soil, and coal slag.
