How to grow trumpet creeper in spring

How to grow trumpet creeper in spring

1. Proper pruning

Trumpet creeper grows rapidly in spring. In order to avoid unnecessary nutrient loss, you can trim it slightly on the basis of winter pruning, mainly to remove unhealthy and damaged branches that affect the appearance.

2. Increase Lighting

Whether the amount of light is sufficient directly affects its plant shape. If the light conditions are met, its branches will grow more evenly and the flowers will bloom beautifully. If it grows in a semi-shady environment, the branches will appear malnourished and will grow very thin, which will not only be detrimental to its growth, but will also affect its shape. It needs sufficient light in spring so that it can grow healthy and stylish. Generally, it needs six hours of light a day.

3. Control watering

It has a greater demand for water in spring, but its roots are sensitive to water, so the amount of watering needs to be controlled to avoid water accumulation in the soil while meeting its water needs. The temperature in early spring is not high and the water does not evaporate quickly, so watering two to three times a week is enough. The temperature is higher in late spring and water evaporates quickly, so watering is required every day. The time for watering should be in the morning or evening. If you water at noon, the sunlight is too strong and the water evaporates before it can be absorbed, thus failing to achieve the purpose of watering.
