How to grow boxwood in spring

How to grow boxwood in spring

1. Increase watering

Reasonable watering is the first factor for healthy plant growth, especially in the north, where water evaporates quickly and water demand is relatively large, so you must increase the amount and frequency of watering. When watering it, you should follow the principle of "better to keep it wet than dry". Spring is its growing season, and it needs to be watered every two days. If the temperature is high, you need to water it every day. In addition, you also need to spray water on the branches and leaves.

2. Proper pruning

It grows extremely fast in the spring. In order to avoid the problem of branches growing too long, the branches that grow too vigorously need to be slightly combed. Secondly, you should cut off branches that are damaged, infested with insects, or growing poorly. After pruning, be careful to avoid water, as there are bacteria in the water that can easily lead to infection.

3. Increase nutrients

It consumes more nutrients in the spring and needs top dressing. If it is a newly planted plant, you need to mix base fertilizer into the soil before potting it. If it is an old plant, you need to fertilize it two to three times a month. You can choose compound fertilizers, which are rich in nutrients and diversified in nutrition, and are beneficial to the growth of plants.

4. Increase Lighting

Boxwood is a green plant and can only metabolize normally if there is sufficient sunlight. Therefore, more light needs to be provided in spring. Generally, the daily light intake should be no less than 8 hours. When the sun is strong in late spring, you need to move to a cool place to avoid the sun.
