How to plant Gastrodia elata

How to plant Gastrodia elata

1. Seed processing

Before planting, select seeds with fuller grains and soak them in water for six hours to allow the seeds to absorb sufficient water, thus shortening the dormancy period. Then place it in a new lipid membrane solution and mix it with the seeds to effectively prevent virus erosion.

2. Site Selection and Land Preparation

When planting, choose sandy soil or humus soil as the cultivation site, which has good drainage and appropriate nutrients, which is beneficial to its later growth. After selecting the land, use decomposed broad-leaved trees as the seedbed. Wait about three days and then dig a hole about 35 cm in diameter for later use.

3. Seeding and Seedling Raising

After everything is ready, you can start sowing the seeds in the soil. First, place about eight pieces of wood at the bottom of the hole. Be careful not to put them too close. The distance between them should be about eight centimeters. Place the Cordyceps branches at the interface of the wood. Then you can sprinkle the seeds on top and finally cover with 15 cm deep soil.

4. Post-management

No fertilizer is needed after planting. You can spray Gen Da Ling solution in the early stage of growth to promote root growth. In the later stage, water should be applied appropriately, and it is best to control the humidity at around 40%. In winter, it is best to cover the top with a layer of leaves to keep warm and avoid frostbite.
