Cultivation methods and precautions of four-season plum

Cultivation methods and precautions of four-season plum

1. Soil

You can use peat soil or garden soil for breeding, but be careful not to use saline-alkaline soil, which will affect growth. It is best to grow it in soil that is permeable and breathable, which is beneficial to its growth.

2. Watering

When caring for the plant, do not water it too frequently. Control the amount of water and avoid water accumulation, otherwise the roots will easily rot. Usually water it once every three to five days and just keep the soil slightly moist. Water should be controlled in winter, and drier soil is more conducive to wintering.

3. Fertilization

During the growth period and bud formation period, it is necessary to apply fertilizer regularly to ensure better growth with sufficient nutrients. Generally, fertilizer is applied once every ten days during the growing season, with more nitrogen fertilizer used. Apply more phosphorus fertilizer during the bud formation stage, so that the flower color will be brighter and more ornamental in the later stage.

4. Light temperature

It likes a warm environment, and the most suitable temperature is between 20 and 33 degrees. The temperature must be controlled in winter and kept above 5 degrees, otherwise it will be frostbite. It should be placed in a well-lit place at ordinary times. The flowers will bloom more beautifully with sufficient light. But be careful to block out sunlight in summer to avoid sunburn.

5. Notes

During the cultivation period, attention should be paid to timely pruning. When five leaves grow, the top should be pinched to promote the growth of side branches. After flowering, you should promptly cut off the remaining flowers and branches that have bloomed to prevent nutrient loss. In addition, we must also pay attention to diseases and insect pests, especially rust, and spray pesticides in time to prevent and control them when they are discovered.
