Taboos of growing Christmas cactus in winter

Taboos of growing Christmas cactus in winter

1. Outdoor farming

It is not cold-resistant, so it should be moved indoors for maintenance in time after the temperature drops in winter. If the outdoor temperature is lower than 10 degrees, it will affect the growth of the plants and cause frostbite. After moving indoors, you must also pay attention to temperature control, which should not be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise it will affect its growth.

2. Insufficient light

It itself is relatively light-loving, and the light in winter is also very mild. At this time, it should be placed in a place with better light and receive light throughout the day. More light can promote flowering and increase the number of flowers. If the weather does not permit, artificial lighting is required.

3. Too much watering

It blooms throughout the winter and will not hibernate, but watering still needs to be controlled at this time. If you water too much, once water accumulates in the potting soil, it will easily cause the plant to wither and die. It is best to keep the potting soil dry rather than too wet. You can spray water frequently to keep it moist.

4. Apply fertilizer

Although this is its flowering time, it is strictly forbidden to apply chemical fertilizers. If you want to supplement nutrients, you can apply a small amount of decomposed liquid fertilizer. It is best to stop applying fertilizer when the temperature is low. In addition, when fertilizing, be careful not to apply nitrogen fertilizer, as it will affect flowering.
