How to grow potted osmanthus and what to do if leaves fall off

How to grow potted osmanthus and what to do if leaves fall off

1. Soil

Potted osmanthus requires slightly acidic soil, as it is not suitable for growing in alkaline soil. Before cultivation, the soil should be simply disinfected, so as to reduce the chance of plants being harmed by diseases and insects during maintenance.

2. Watering

Don't water it at a fixed frequency, water it appropriately according to the moisture status of the soil. It is best to wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering. In summer, the plant requires more water, so you can water it more appropriately; but in autumn and winter, you need to control the amount of watering and not water it too much. Avoid being exposed to rain during the rainy season and drain the water in time after the rain.

3. Lighting

It likes sunlight, and can be placed outdoors in a potted plant to receive sufficient sunlight every day. But in summer, shade is needed, otherwise it will affect the differentiation of flower buds. Also, when the plant is in the seedling stage, it should be avoided from direct sunlight and should receive appropriate natural light in the morning and evening.

4. How to deal with fallen leaves

1. The falling leaves of osmanthus are usually caused by incorrect watering methods. If you water it too much on a daily basis, the roots of the plant will be immersed in stagnant water for a long time and the leaves will fall off. The soil should be loosened appropriately and placed in a cool and ventilated place to allow the water to evaporate as quickly as possible.

2. On the contrary, lack of water can also cause leaves to fall. You need to gradually increase the amount of watering and keep the soil slightly moist to avoid being too dry.
