Can osmanthus trees be cultivated by cuttings?

Can osmanthus trees be cultivated by cuttings?

1. Is it possible?

Osmanthus trees have strong adaptability and can be cultivated by cuttings. Cuttings are also a type of cuttings, the method is simple and the survival rate is very high. However, there are requirements for the time of grafting. It is best to do it between March and April in spring. At this time, the new shoots have sprouted and the temperature is suitable, which is more conducive to rooting and survival.

2. Cutting method

1. Processing of cuttings: The branches for cuttings should be selected from young and middle-aged trees, and they should be healthy, disease-free and full. After selecting, cut it into small sections of about ten centimeters, then remove the leaves on the lower half, leaving only three or four leaves on the top, this can reduce water loss.

2. Prepare the soil: Osmanthus trees prefer acidic soil, so the pH of the cutting medium should be between 5.5-6.5, and it should be loose and breathable. You can mix it yourself with sand, garden soil, and leaf mold.

3. Cutting maintenance: After preparing the soil, you can start cuttings and directly insert the cuttings. Be careful not to dig too deep, otherwise it will not be conducive to rooting. After planting, pay attention to temperature control. The temperature should be between 25 and 28 degrees. Also, sprinkle more water to maintain moisture. The humidity should be around 85%. Only with proper maintenance can it survive successfully.
