How to grow mint in spring

How to grow mint in spring

1. Water more

In early spring, if the mint is grown outdoors, do not move it or clean the fallen leaves in the pot, because it is cold in winter and the roots will be frozen to the soil. At this time, you don't need to do anything. You only need to water it once with thawing water, and the amount of water should be large, so as to revive the plant. After its condition returns to normal, it needs to be watered once or twice a week until the normal watering frequency is restored.

2. Fertilization

It grows faster in the spring. As mentioned above, no fertilizer is needed in early spring. When the climate temperature reaches a certain level, its growth rate will increase, and then it is necessary to apply fertilizer. The frequency of fertilization is once a month. You can use decomposed manure, bean cake fertilizer, animal manure and other fertilizers. The amount of fertilizer does not need to be too much, just enough to meet the demand.

3. Repotting

After the soil thaws, you need to repot it. Before repotting, you need to prepare soil with good permeability and high looseness. This kind of soil can not only remove excess water in the soil, but also store water, which is extremely beneficial to the growth of the plant. The substrate can be made of humus, garden soil and coarse sand mixed in a ratio of 5:3:2.

4. Increase Lighting

Mint is a long-day plant. If the amount of light is insufficient, the leaves will turn yellow and the branches will droop. It needs at least 8 hours of light a day so that it can metabolize normally, which will also make its taste more and more fragrant.
