When do cherries bloom?

When do cherries bloom?

1. Flowering period

The flowering time of cherries is related to the climate and will be affected to a certain extent. Generally speaking, the south is relatively warm and the flowers bloom earlier, in January and February. The north is relatively cold, and the flowers bloom later, usually in March and April, and the flowering period is about ten days. Its flowering and maturity periods are relatively early, so it is known as the first fruit of early spring.

2. Differences in flowering period

The flowering time of cherries is not only affected by the climate, but also by the growth of the fruit trees. Usually weaker and relatively large trees bloom earlier. In addition, the flowering time of the same tree is not exactly the same. Generally, the flowers on short fruit branches and bouquet-shaped fruit branches bloom first, while those on medium and long branches are slightly delayed. A flower usually stays open for about three days, with pollination being best on the first day and the fruit set rate being highest, while the third day has the lowest.

3. Maintenance methods during flowering period

When it is blooming, you need to pay attention to the maintenance methods, especially the watering problem. If the methods are not followed, it will cause the flowers to fall and fail to bear fruit normally. It is best to water before flowering to promote the growth and development of flower buds, but the amount should not be too large to avoid affecting root growth. In addition, fertilizer is needed. There is only less than two months from flowering to fruiting. During this period, nutrients must be sufficient and fertilizer should be added frequently. Special fertilizer for fruit trees can be used. With sufficient nutrients, the fruits can grow bigger and more.
