How to grow Camellia sasanqua

How to grow Camellia sasanqua

1. Appropriate moisture

Camellia sasanqua grows well in moist places, so it is necessary to provide adequate water to maintain appropriate soil moisture. Proper water replenishment is necessary, but there should be no accumulation of water. In spring, summer and autumn, you should spray water on the leaves appropriately, which can not only keep them moisturized but also clean them. In hot summer, you can water the plants in the morning and evening, and in severe winter, you need to extend the watering frequency.

2. Open windows for ventilation

The ventilation of the place where Camellia sasanqua is grown should be good enough. If it is too closed, it will be very detrimental to its growth. You don't have to worry about this issue if you keep it outdoors, but if you keep it indoors, you must open the windows more often to keep the air in the breeding environment fresh.

3. Reasonable lighting

It doesn't like sunlight very much and is more suitable for growing in semi-shade, and it cannot be exposed to strong sunlight. It is best to allow it to receive more light in late autumn and winter, and provide shade to varying degrees at other times. Especially in midsummer, it is best to keep it in a cool place to prevent sunburn.

4. Prevention and control of diseases and pests

As the plants grow, they will inevitably be affected by diseases and pests. If soot mold, anthracnose, etc. occur, they must be treated with drugs as soon as possible, and Bordeaux liquid can be sprayed. If red spider mites or scale insects appear, they need to be brushed clean with a soft-bristled brush. You can also use tobacco leaf water with an appropriate amount of chili water to prevent and control red spider mites.
