How to grow garlic in pots

How to grow garlic in pots

1. Prepare the soil

It is best to plant garlic in autumn, when the temperature is suitable, the growth will be more vigorous in the later period. You need to prepare a larger flower pot, either a ceramic pot or a clay pot will do. Normal garden soil can be used as the soil, and it is best to add an appropriate amount of fertilizer to facilitate growth. When ready, put it into a flowerpot and set aside.

2. Choose garlic

When planting, choose garlic that is free of pests and diseases and is not damaged, then break it open, being careful not to damage the epidermis. When cultivating in pots, plant it with the epidermis intact.

3. Planting in the soil

Before planting, moisten the soil with water, and then plant the garlic directly into the soil, one by one, with the garlic facing down and the pointed end facing up, not too deep. Also be careful not to place them too close together, leave some space. Because it will expand after absorbing water, being too tight will affect growth and development.

4. Post-planting maintenance

The growth and development of garlic cannot be separated from water and light. It will take root and sprout within a few days after planting. Once the surface of the soil is found to be dry, it is necessary to replenish water in time. It should always be kept moist, but be careful not to accumulate water. It should also be placed in a place with good light, and can be grown on a balcony. The garlic sprouts will grow faster when exposed to light. In the later stage, you can fertilize once a month, and remember to dilute the fertilizer first. When the seedlings grow to a certain height, they can be cut and eaten.
