Fig Growing Conditions

Fig Growing Conditions

1. Temperature requirements

Figs are resistant to high temperatures, and usually high temperature environments will not harm the fruit trees, but some varieties have poor cold resistance. For example, Green Anti-No. 1 and Mas Yi Taofen are easily frostbitten in an environment of minus 8 degrees Celsius, so the temperature issue must be considered when planting. It is difficult to survive the winter in the northern environment.

2. Water Management

It has a well-developed root system and is drought-resistant, so it can produce high yields when planted in mountainous areas. In addition, it is also very resistant to waterlogging, but if the air humidity is too high, long-term water shortage or waterlogging will cause the fruit to rot and fall, affecting yield. Therefore, when planting, it is necessary to plant in a place where it can be irrigated during drought and drained in time during floods, so that the yield will be higher.

3. Soil requirements

When planting, it can grow normally whether planted in sandy soil or in heavy clay soil, but the more suitable soil is one with a higher calcium content. If the soil is acidic and lacks calcium, applying an appropriate amount of lime for adjustment will significantly increase production.

4. Site Selection

It has strong adaptability, so it can be planted in plains, hills or mountains, but the issue of transportation must also be considered. Because it is juicy and the fruit is soft, it is not very convenient to transport. If it is planted on a large scale, it should be planted in a place with convenient transportation or close to a city for easy sale.
