How to plant Dendrobium officinale in pots

How to plant Dendrobium officinale in pots

1. Prepare the flower pot

When planting in potted plants, you can use clay pots, plastic pots, wooden pots or ceramic pots, among which ceramic pots and clay pots are more ideal. Because of its better air permeability, it is suitable for dry breeding. In addition, make sure there are drainage holes at the bottom of the pot and ventilation holes on the sides. If not, they need to be processed.

2. Prepare the substrate

No soil is needed to grow Dendrobium. You can use modified tree bark, foam plastic particles, etc. as the substrate. This way it is breathable, loose and contains humus, but be sure to disinfect it before potting to avoid insect eggs. After the matrix is transformed, it is divided into fine particles, medium particles and coarse particles and put aside for later use.

3. Planting in pots

When potting, lay a layer of foam blocks and broken tiles at the bottom of the pot to increase drainage. Then add the prepared coarse-grained planting material on top, put the seedlings in, add the medium-grained material after the roots are organized, then gently lift the plant and compact it. Finally, add fine-grained planting material and bury most of the pseudobulbs, leaving one-third exposed.

4. Post-maintenance

After planting in the pot, water it thoroughly to make the substrate and the plant in the pot completely moist. Then keep it in a cool place. Increase the light after the seedlings have adapted to the pot, but be careful not to expose it to strong light. In addition, it has temperature requirements, which cannot be higher than 35 degrees and cannot be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise it will affect its growth. It is best to provide a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees.
