How to prune Phoenix bamboo

1. Pruning during the growing season

1. As the Phoenix Tail Bamboo continues to grow, some branches will wither due to metabolism. Such dead branches must be cut off in time. If it is not pruned, it will reduce the appearance and consume more nutrients.

2. If the maintenance environment is not suitable or the management is improper, dead leaves and yellow leaves will appear on the plant. Therefore, proper pruning is conducive to better growth of the plant.

3. Some branches will grow wildly due to maintenance reasons, and the branches and leaves will become very long, which will not only affect the shape but also consume nutrients. They should be cut off as soon as they are discovered. In addition, some branches that grow crosswise or overlappingly should also be thinned out reasonably.

4. It is not recommended for the plant to grow too high when potted. Therefore, when it grows to a relatively high height, it should be topped to control its growth height. Generally, some of the higher branches are cut off to allow side branches to grow.

2. Winter pruning

The plant is in a dormant stage at this time, and we can take this opportunity to cut off the branches and leaves that are growing poorly or have been infested by pests and diseases. Note that the cut parts of the plant must be disinfected after pruning, especially after pruning diseased branches. If not disinfected, infection may occur.
