How to open lotus seeds

1. Find the breach

To crack the lotus seeds, you must first find the end that needs to be cracked. Both ends of its seeds are actually protruding, and there is a depression at the protruding position of one end, and there is a small hole like a pinhole at the depression. We can break it open at this position. Its seeds are very hard and must be broken open manually.

2. Breaching Method

1. Pliers open: The simplest and most direct method is to use pliers, put the seeds into the pliers, squeeze them hard until there is a break, then let go. Be careful when using the pliers, otherwise the entire seed will be crushed.

2. Cut: Use sharp scissors to cut a small hole. However, be careful when using scissors to not damage the embryo inside the seed. Cut less, otherwise it will affect germination.

3. Grind: Pick up the seeds and grind them hard on a rough surface, such as a cement floor or sandpaper. Grind back and forth vigorously until you see a small hole. Likewise, don't grind too much.
