How to grow potted gardenia in winter

1. Keep warm indoors

The temperature in winter may drop rapidly. If the plants are not moved indoors in time, they will easily be frozen. Therefore, they need to be moved to a warm house as soon as possible after winter. If you keep it outdoors in the south, you also need to take appropriate warming measures. It is best to cover it with plastic wrap or a plastic bag, which can provide good protection against the cold.

2. Control the amount of water

In winter, the vitality of the plant's roots will become very poor and the amount of water required will decrease, so less watering is needed. You can water it once a month. Be careful not to let the soil become hardened. Observe the moisture of the soil more often and water it as soon as possible if it becomes dry.

3. Pay attention to lighting

Gardenia is suitable for growing in warm places. Although it is in a dormant period, it also needs light. In winter, it needs to be given sufficient light, usually at least 4 hours of light a day. It can be placed directly on the south balcony.

4. Maintain ventilation

The indoor temperature is usually relatively warm in winter, and it is not conducive for plants to grow over the winter if they are in a hot and stuffy environment for a long time. Therefore, you should wait for warm weather at noon and open the windows more often to allow indoor air to circulate, especially in air-conditioned rooms.
