How to distinguish between delphinium and delphinium

Introduction to Delphinium

Delphinium, a member of the genus Delphinium in the Ranunculaceae family, is also known as plover grass and radish flower. It is an annual or biennial herb with a plant height of 60-100cm. The leaves are alternate, palmately lobed, the inflorescence is terminal, the ovary consists of one carpel, the fruit is follicle-shaped, and the seeds are brown.

The flower growing period is from May to July, the fruit ripens in July to August, and the seed (planting) life span is 4 years. It likes plenty of sunlight, fertile soil and can tolerate partial shade. Propagation by seed (planting) is the same as delphinium.

Planting in March will bloom in July. Planting in October and overwinter in the greenhouse will bloom in May of the following year. Seedlings will emerge in about 3 weeks after sowing (planting) at 20 degrees. The taproots are not tolerant to transplantation.

The flower growing period is from June to September, the fruit ripens from August to October, and the seed (planting) life span is 1 year. It likes plenty of sunlight, tolerates partial shade, avoids heat, likes dryness and tolerates barrenness.

Propagation by sowing (planting) and division. The suitable temperature for germination (growing new shoots) is 15-18 degrees. Sow directly in the open field or in pots. Cover with 0.5-1cm of soil after sowing. Seedlings will emerge in about 20 days. After emergence, they will be transplanted with the soil. Taproots are not tolerant to transplantation.

How to distinguish between delphinium and delphinium

Difference 1: They belong to the same Ranunculaceae family, but different genera and species. Delphinium genus, delphinium species; Delphinium genus, Delphinium species.

Difference 2: The plant of delphinium is relatively tall, and the flowers are densely packed into the plant shape. Delphiniums are relatively short, and the flowers are smaller and looser.

Difference three: The flowers of delphinium are more colorful, including purple, white, blue, pink, etc., while the flowers of delphinium are relatively single in color, with blue being the most common.
