How to grow canna in autumn

How to grow canna in autumn

1. Keep warm

The temperature in early autumn is not very low and is still within its tolerance range. In late autumn, the temperature drops rapidly and needs to be controlled. If measures are not in place, it will be difficult for it to survive the winter safely. After the temperature drops, you need to move it to a place with suitable temperature indoors for maintenance. Heating starts in late autumn in the north. Do not place it directly on the ground during maintenance, as floor heating will affect its growth. The late autumn in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas is relatively cold, so when maintaining it indoors, avoid placing it in ventilated places such as doorways and windows to prevent it from being frozen by cold air.

2. Control the temperature

Whether it is maintained in the south or the north, the temperature of its growing environment needs to be controlled at around 20℃. If it is lower than 15℃, it will go dormant, and if it is higher than 25℃, it will grow prematurely, which is not conducive to its growth. It is equivalent to overdrawing nutrients in advance, and the flowering effect of the next year will be affected.

3. Scientific watering

The climate is relatively dry after autumn and water evaporates quickly. At this time, you need to increase the amount of watering appropriately and spray water on the branches and leaves. Around October, the temperature drops rapidly, and it is necessary to reduce the amount of watering appropriately to stimulate its branches and stems to reduce water, thereby achieving full development of the tissues and preparing for severe cold.

4. Pruning

In order to avoid excessive dispersion of nutrients, it is necessary to carry out an autumn pruning in autumn, cut off the dry, damaged, and too fast-growing branches, so that the nutrients are evenly distributed.
