How to grow morning glory in autumn

How to grow morning glory in autumn

1. Planting

The branches of the plant will be compact if sown in autumn, but the compactness will be less if sown in spring, especially in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas. If planted in autumn, the survival rate will be much higher than in other seasons. The best time for sowing is from September to October, when the temperature is still relatively high, which is conducive to seed germination. When sowing, soak the seeds in warm water for four hours, then sow them on the soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil one centimeter thick. They will germinate in about a week. Once it has two leaves, it can be transplanted. Another benefit of planting in the fall is that it avoids snail infestations. November is when the snails come out, and by this time the plants have grown larger and can resist the snails.

2. Watering

In the south, the temperature does not drop quickly in autumn. The temperature in early autumn is still very high, and the water in the plants evaporates relatively quickly. At this time, you need to increase the amount of watering and spray the leaves more water to avoid dehydration. In late autumn, you need to reduce the amount of watering to avoid waterlogging of the plants. The temperature in late autumn is relatively low, and the plants are prone to freezing if you water too much. The four seasons in the north are distinct, and the temperature drops quickly in autumn, so watering needs to be arranged reasonably according to different temperatures.

3. Increase nutrients

Autumn is its growing season, and its flowers need sufficient nutrients to bloom well. When applying fertilizer, you can use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer, and the frequency of use is once a week. In late autumn, the amount of fertilizer should be reduced until it is stopped.
