How to grow the lucky flower

How to grow the lucky flower

1. Breeding methods

1. Light: Lucky flower is a plant that likes sunlight. It can receive light for a long time both in the growing period and the flowering period.

2. Soil: The lucky flower is not very demanding on the soil. Loose and fertile soil is preferred. Since it is easy for the plant to survive, just avoid soil compaction.

3. Watering: Wait until the soil is dry before watering the lucky flower. Of course, long-term lack of water will also lead to poor growth of the plant, so pay attention to the condition of the potting soil and water it once it becomes dry. In spring and autumn, you only need to water the plant once every 2-3 days, but in the hot summer weather, you need to water it 1-2 times a day.

4. Fertilization: The lucky flower has a high demand for fertilizer. In addition to adding base fertilizer during planting, top dressing should be applied every week or so. Water-soluble compound fertilizer can be used for watering, which will be more helpful for the plant's absorption. In addition, reduce fertilization in winter.

2. Breeding techniques

The lucky flower is usually propagated by sowing, but it can also be propagated by division and cuttings. The sowing is mostly carried out in August and September. Since the seeds are small, they are sown by broadcasting. After sowing, cover with about 5 mm of fine soil, water thoroughly and provide appropriate shade. Division is carried out in March. After digging out the roots, cut off the side shoots with roots and plant them in other pots. Cuttings are mostly taken from April to June. Select 10 cm branches with more than 3 nodes, remove the base leaves and start cuttings. Pay attention to shade and moisture retention.

3. Pest and disease control

1. Diseases: The main diseases are leaf blight, gray mold, brown spot and anthracnose, which can be prevented and controlled with chlorothalonil.

2. Pests: Common pests include cutworms, aphids and chrysanthemum longhorn beetles, which need to be killed with pesticides, and the attached branches and leaves should also be removed.
