Hua Yue Ye is not easy to grow. It needs plenty of sunlight and a cool, dry environment. It is tolerant to partial shade. Hua Yue Ye does not like waterlogged, stuffy, and humid environments. It has the habit of growing in cold seasons and hibernating in high temperatures in summer. If there is insufficient light, the leaves of the plant will grow too long and the red color of the leaf edges will gradually fade.

How to grow Huayueye

Hua Yue Ye has strong habits. As long as it is kept in sufficient light and water is controlled properly, it can grow healthily. Its normal growth state is green. If it receives sufficient light, the color of Hua Yue Ye will change from green to red.

1. Ambient temperature

In order to make the Huayueye grow healthily, we must first understand the suitable environment for Huayueye. Huayueye likes an environment with plenty of sunshine, warmth, dryness and ventilation.

Hua Yue Ye is afraid of humid and stuffy environment. Spring and autumn every year are also the peak growth seasons of Hua Yue Ye. If the ambient temperature is above 30℃, it is necessary to keep ventilation and avoid strong light at noon to prevent leaves from being burned.

2. Pot soil selection

When growing moonflowers, you must avoid the phenomenon of excessive growth and spreading. The choice of potting soil is very important. Breathable and loose potting soil is more breathable and water-permeable, which can avoid water accumulation in the pot and reduce the chances of spreading, excessive growth, and root rot. It is recommended to use breathable ceramic pots, clay pots, or purple clay pots.

3. Water properly

The Moonflower is a relatively drought-resistant succulent plant. During normal maintenance, it does not need to be watered frequently. If it is watered too much and the light is not sufficient, it will easily grow too tall or become flat. In the hot summer, the temperature is high and the light is strong, so water should be strictly controlled, as long as the roots of the Moonflower are kept from drying out.

4. Provide enough light

If you want the Huayueye to have a red edge, you must maintain sufficient light. If there is insufficient light, the color of the Huayueye will be green. Only with sufficient light will the color of the Huayueye become bright. Under long-term sufficient light, the color of the Huayueye will become bright red.

5. Continuous exposure

It is not difficult to make the flower moon night look good. As long as it is in a season with a large temperature difference and soft light, you can put the flower moon night outdoors for outdoor cultivation. Generally, the outdoor temperature is maintained at 5-28℃. The flower moon night that is exposed outdoors for a long time will color faster and the color will be more vivid.

Flower Moon Night Maintenance Precautions

When caring for the Moonflower, be careful not to let it face the scorching sun in the summer. If the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, you must shade it and place it in a ventilated place.

We can also sprinkle water around the Huayue Ye to cool it down. Be sure to water it less often, generally once every 1-2 months is enough.
