How to propagate chrysanthemums by cuttings

How to propagate chrysanthemums by cuttings

When propagating chrysanthemums by cuttings, the main thing is to first cut a section of the stronger main plant from the normally growing chrysanthemum. The cutting length can be about 20 to 25 cm. Note that the scissors used must be disinfected before cutting, and the cut wounds of the branches must be disinfected after cutting. Except for the top buds and a small part of the leaves on the branches, all other excess leaves can be removed, so that the growth of the chrysanthemum will be better.

Chrysanthemum cutting time

Chrysanthemum is actually a kind of flower that can be propagated by cuttings throughout the year, but relatively speaking, it is better to choose March to May for cuttings. Generally speaking, the temperature at this time will be more suitable, and the chrysanthemums will be easier to survive after cuttings. If there are no special circumstances, try to avoid cuttings during the high temperature season in midsummer, otherwise it will easily affect the flowering effect of the chrysanthemum.

Chrysanthemum cutting method

If you want to have a high survival rate for chrysanthemum cuttings, you must prepare the soil well. First of all, you must ensure that the soil is loose and well-breathable. If you use a highly viscous medium for chrysanthemum cuttings, it will cause slow rooting and a low survival rate. Before chrysanthemum cuttings, it is best to dry the soil properly, which can play a certain role in sterilization and disinfection, which is beneficial for preventing chrysanthemums from being infected by bacteria.

Rooting of chrysanthemum cuttings

Newly grafted chrysanthemums are very afraid of direct sunlight, so they must be placed in a cool environment and allowed to gradually receive some scattered light after a period of time, so that the chrysanthemums can quickly take root and germinate.
